  Over Thanksgiving week, the Kennedy Center's own ballet company performs two mixed programs featuring works by George Balanchine, including Chaconne in a special collaboration with Cincinnati Ballet.

• American Ballet Theatre: The Nutcracker

  ABT's magnificent stars perform Tchaikovsky's holiday classic in a "sugar plum of a production that is both a crowd pleaser and a dancer showcase" (The New York Post).

• Kirov Ballet: La Bayadère

  Jan 22 - 27, 2008
  St. Petersburg's legendary company performs Petipa's masterpiece, which The Times of London calls "a three-act spectacle of beautiful dancing, perfumed with the delights of 19th-century classicism performed as only the Kirov can."

• American Ballet Theatre: The Sleeping Beauty

  Jan 29 - Feb 3, 2008
  The timeless fairy tale of a beautiful princess, an evil sorceress, and a century of sleep awakened by a prince's kiss comes to life in an all-new production choreographed by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie and set to Tchaikovsky's ravishing score.

• New National Theatre Ballet, Tokyo: Mixed Repertory Program (Feb. 15); Raymonda (Feb. 16 & 17)

  Feb 15 - 17, 2008
  Japan's national company performs two programs: mixed repertory featuring works by Balanchine, Duato, and Maki (Feb. 15); and Petipa's full-length masterpiece Raymonda (Feb. 16 & 17).

• New York City Ballet

  Feb 27 - Mar 2, 2008
  The acclaimed company performs mixed repertory to include works by Jerome Robbins, in tribute to the 10th anniversary of his passing.

• Protégés II

  The Kennedy Center presents more rising stars from the world's leading ballet academies in a program of mixed repertory performed by Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Paris Opera Ballet School, Royal Ballet School, and School of American Ballet.
